VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 – Microplate pipetting made easy and affordable

VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 enable transfers of 96 and 384 samples in a single step, thus increasing pipetting throughput and reproducibility significantly. At a fraction of the cost, they often surpass throughput capabilities of even expensive robots.
VIAFLO 96 is an electronic, handheld 96 channel pipette designed to fit on any lab bench. The unique operating concept makes it as easy to use as any traditional handheld pipette.
VIAFLO 384 is an enhanced version of the successful VIAFLO 96. It offers the same intuitive operation and compact design, but allows working with both 96 and 384 channel heads for an even higher productivity.

Always work in the optimal volume range
Choosing the appropriate pipetting head for the application’s volume range helps to achieve the best pipetting results in terms of accuracy and precision. The heads are available in five volume ranges: 0.5 – 12.5 µl, 2 - 50 µl, 5 – 125 µl, 10 – 300 µl and 50 – 1250 µl. Changing a pipetting head is easy and takes less than a minute.
VIAFLO 384 can operate with 96- and 384-channel heads while VIAFLO 96 works with 96-channel heads only.
All channels of a pipetting head have their own pistons, making every channel independent from each other to avoid cross-channel influences. It is also possible to load the pipetting head only partially with tips. For example load only 8 tips on one column to perform serial dilutions.
GripTips for reliable pipetting results
Loosing a tip during an assay preparation can ruin the entire assay and a reliable sealing is of key importance for accurate pipetting.
INTEGRA has redesigned the connection between pipette tip and tip fitting to resolve this issue. The unique GripTip pipette tips match perfectly with the Tri-Lobe tip fitting to form an integral system. During loading the tips snap over three lobes, which mechanically holds them on the tip fitting. It effectively prevents tips from falling off and guarantees a perfect sealing on every tip to prevent sample spillage.

The GripTips are comfortably loaded and ejected without any physical effort due to a power assisted mechanism activated by a push button. The loading procedure also guarantees that GripTips are not touched by the user and remain sterile.
Space saving footprint
VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 are compact and use little bench space.
They can also be easily relocated and fit into most laminar flow cabinets for sterile applications.
Up to three plate holders accommodate tip racks, microplates, reagent reservoirs or other SBS-size labware.
Up to 8 microplates can be stacked to make maximum use of the stage positions.

Standard plate holder
Plate holder with slide function
For 96 channel pipetting. The standard plate holder (6205) is used for simple 96 well transfers. The plate holder with slide function (6210) enables a grid offset to access 384-well plates with a 96-channel head.
Spring loaded plate holder with slide function - 384 well plate offset For 96 and 384 channel pipetting.
Available for position A (6215) and B (6220), these plate holders feature a spring load mechanism to secure microplates in place. Recommended for applications that require an exact plate positioning. Both holders also feature the slide function to access 384 well plates with a 96 channel head.
Three position stage For 96 and 384 channel pipetting.
The stage provides three plate holder positions. Move the stage to the left and right to work with all three positions. It features the spring mechanism and slide function on all three positions.
The three position stage occupies both positions A and B and cannot be combined with another plate holder.
Adjustable spring loaded plate holders with slide function – 384 well plate offset For 96 and 384 channel pipetting. Available for position A (6223) and B (6224) these plate holders feature a slide function to access 384 well plates with a 96 channel head. A spring load mechanism secures the microplate in place. Both holders are adjustable in y direction to allow an optimal alignment of the pipetting head with the target plate. Recommended for 384 well plates with small wells, such as round well plates.
Adjustable spring loaded plate holders with slide function – 1536 well plate offset For 96- and 384 channel pipetting.
Available for position A (6225) and B (6226) these plate holders feature a slide function to pipet into 1536 well plates with a 384-channel pipetting head. A spring load mechanism secures the microplate in place. Both holders are adjustable in y direction to allow an optimal alignment of the pipetting head with the target 1536 well plate.
Row dilution plate holder In addition to serial dilutions in columns, this plate holder enables serial dilutions in rows. It works for both 96 and 384 well plates.
Plate holder inserts: PCR cooling plate
These aluminum 96 and 384 well PCR cooling plates keep reagents cooled during sample preparation in a PCR plate.
The cooling plates feature an SBS footprint, fit into any of our plate holders but can also be used for other applications or with other instruments.
A comprehensive electronic pipette
VIAFLO 96, VIAFLO 384 and all other VIAFLO electronic pipettes have a common user interface making it easy enough to switch between both systems without a second thought.
A full color screen and proven touch wheel interface offer quick and comprehensible menu navigation. Simply by moving the finger over the touch wheel, menus and settings can be accessed and changed.
The multilingual userinterface features full text menus in English, German, French, Chinese and Japanese.
Full range of pipetting modes
A choice of ten predefined pipetting modes provides users with convenient solutions for the most common liquid handling tasks. Standard pipetting routines, such as plate to plate transfers or multiple dispenses from a reservoir to different plates, can be executed with minimal set up time.
VIALINK for convenient pipette and program management
VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 can be connected to a computer via USB port. With the free to use pipette management software VIALINK, custom programs can be created on the computer and then be transferred onto VIAFLO 96/384. For laboratories with many users or power users with many pipetting protocols, all custom programs can be stored and backed up in a library on the computer.

VIAFLO 96/384 fills microplates within seconds by transferring up to 384 samples simultaneously. It reduces pipetting errors and increases pipetting reproducibility as all samples are transferred the same way.

The “Repeat dispense” function is an extremely effective mode to fill multiple plates with the same liquid: Aspirate once and dispense multiple aliquots of the same or different volume. Plates can be stacked during the process to minimize plate handling.

An exact aspiration height can be defined to precisely remove supernatant. The ability to adjust the pipetting speed helps to gently aspirate without disturbing cells at the bottom of a well.

Mixing and Resuspension
Performing serial dilutions, mixing or resuspending contents of entire plates can effortlessly accomplished without repeatedly pressing a plunger. The number of mixing cycles and the mixing speed can be exactly defined.
Nucleotide and protein extraction in 96-well format
In this video we demonstrate how the vacuum manifold AURUM from Biorad can be used with VIAFLO 384 to extract RNA. The manifold fits directly on the plate holders of VIAFLO 384 without modifications and can be used right away.
