Coronavirus antibody detection: High throughput biological sample processing with VIAFLO 96

A new study of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases wants to determine how many adults in the United States without a confirmed history of infection with SARS-CoV-2 have antibodies to the virus. Neoteryx LLC, a medical device firm based in California, will supply the at-home blood collection kits for it. Watch the video beside to learn more about their blood sample collection and processing system, using the VIAFLO 96/384 electronic multichannel pipette for the extraction workflow.

Using the Mitra® Microsampling device from Neoteryx LLC it is possible to conveniently collect biological samples, such as blood, and process them highly efficiently using our VIAFLO 96/384 pipette.

The Mitra device is based on Volumetrix Absorptive Microsampling (VAMS™) technology which allows accurate and reliable collection of 10 or 20 µl of blood (or other biological fluid) in seconds. This technique beneficially also eliminates the volumetric hematocrit bias typically associated with the traditional dried blood spotting technique.

Once samples have been collected, hundreds or thousands of samples can be handled per day using the autoMitra™ workflow, as VIAFLO 96/384 allows to reliably and reproducibly process up to 96 samples in parallel. The autoMitra workflow powered VIAFLO 96/384 is easy to implement, can be mastered in one day, and provides a convenient and economical alternative to complex and cumbersome DBS card automation.

Neoteryx LLC delivers simple, quantitative, and automatable microsampling solutions for biological specimen collection. This technology improves animal and patient welfare, reduces laboratory costs, and enables convenient sample collection anywhere, anytime, by anyone. Neoteryx customers do their work across the biological spectrum, working to advance pharmaceutical development, personalized medicine, biotechnology research, and clinical diagnostics.
