INTEGRA Biosciences Corporation is an industry leader of innovative liquid handling products for the medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biotech, and food industries.  We are looking for a Head of Engineering, US to join our product development team in Hudson, NH. The Head of Engineering, US will lead, advance, and grow a team of Engineers in the mechanical/industrial design and development of new products from concept to launch, with a focus on handheld devices. We seek a passionate, high achieving professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. Actively be involved in the execution and supporting all phases of design which includes feasibility studies, planning, concept development, scope, detailed design, and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Grows and develops a team of highly engaged and purpose-driven engineers who love to deliver innovative and inspiring product design; grows the team from 6 to 20 FTEs over the next years
  • Be a key driver of Integra’s engineering culture and push the team towards engineering excellence
  • Develops and executes a long-term strategy for examining new designs, materials, and processing methods for next-generation product concepts for hand-held mechanical pipettes and plastic consumables
  • Collaborates closely with the international R&D group, Product Management, and other departments in the company to drive product innovation through the development of new and refining existing technologies
  • Supports Project Management with his/her long-term expertise
  • Effectively communicates development process progress to cross-functional teams and senior leadership through design reviews, presentations, and timing updates
  • Directs the planning and administration of the R & D budget and makes spending decisions within budget guidelines
  • Provides technical leadership to all engineering and development areas
  • Implements best practice engineering methods

Qualifications

  • High level of entrepreneurship
  • Demonstrated leader with strong skills critical for success, including decisiveness, flexibility, sound judgment, and exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to motivate others inspire excellence in all aspects of performance and project execution
  • Direct knowledge in molded plastic parts
  • Proven history of successful product design, preferably in handheld devices
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks preferred
  • Travel to our Switzerland headquarters (2 – 3 times/year) required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in ME design engineering or related field required
  • 15 years of experience in instrument and/or consumables development in a similar industry
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a leadership role
