Job Summary

INTEGRA Biosciences Corporation is an industry leader in innovative liquid handling products for the medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical, biotech, and food industries.  We are seeking a Principal R&D Engineer who will be part of the product development team and will lead the mechanical/industrial development, sustainment, and support of products with a focus on handheld devices and consumables.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and participate in sustaining and new product activities
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of engineering staff
  • Produce detailed and verified product designs using CAD models, prototypes, and testing analysis
  • Conduct pilot builds and product testing to validate product designs
  • Assist/lead activities required for transfer into production manufacturing
  • Support production manufacturing through the initial launch and full product life cycle
  • Initiate other process requirements such as first article inspections, work instruction, production fixture requirements, incoming/in-process inspection requirements, and manufacturing training
  • Perform research on product technologies to implement into design concepts
  • Lead the communication of development progress to cross-functional teams and senior leadership through design reviews, presentations, and timing updates
  • Proactively interface with other departments involved in product development, manufacture, service, and sales
  • Effectively work with outside development vendors as necessary
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plastics engineering, or similar field
  • 15+ years in a product development environment
  • Proven history of leading successful component or system design projects
  • Experience designing and developing with injection molded parts
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks
  • Demonstrated experience with verification and validation testing
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications
