VOYAGER II Pipettes - Speed up sample transfers between different labware

INTEGRA's VOYAGER II pipettes feature a unique motorized tip spacing, enabling parallel transfer of multiple samples between labware of different sizes and formats. The tip spacing can be changed by a simple push of a button. No manual adjustments or two handed operations are needed.

The VOYAGER II pipettes feature the only motorized adjustable tip spacing in the industry. By the push of a button it allows the tip spacing to expand anywhere between 4.5 mm and 33 mm (depending on the model). This enables access to a wide variety of labware, such as microplates, tube racks and gel boxes. Refer to the application tab for examples and a detailed description of the tip spacing options.

The motorized tip spacing offers many advantages over manual tip spacing adjustments:

  • Single handed operation leaves the other hand free to handle
        labware.
  • On the fly access to up to 3 user-defined tip spacings.
  • These user defined tip spacings are saved. No need to memorize
        spacings of different labware formats.

    The rim of the GripTips will snap over the
    Multi-Lobes, attaching firmly. As a result,
    GripTips will never accidently fall off, even
    after several touch-offs
    .

     

    A shoulder provides a positive stop to prevent over-tightening of the tip. The pipette tip cannot be advanced beyond the positive stop ensuring all tips are at the same height, thus
    increasing the precision when touching off. That means, the tip is either on or off, but nothing in between. Hammering the pipette
    into the tips to make sure they attach correctly is no longer required.

     

    GripTips snap on
    Do your pipette tips ever loosen, leak or fall off? This is a common issue in laboratories, caused by the use of universal pipette tips. Such tips require “hammering on” which stretches the shape of the pipette tip rim. The stretched pipette tip rim immediately starts moving back to its original shape, away from the tip cone. This can cause leaking, misaligned tips and even pipette tips that completely fall off the pipette!

    This will never happen with any VOYAGER II electronic pipette / GripTip combination. Featuring a low attachment force and a low ejection force, GripTips effortlessly snap onto the tip fittings and are easily ejected. Also, GripTips feature a high lateral resistance once attached to the VOYAGER II pipettes. This means GripTips are always firmly attached and perfectly aligned, regardless of how many side well touch offs are performed. You no longer have to hammer your pipette tips on or worry about pipette tips falling off!

    Touch Wheel Interface

    Intuitive operation and navigation

    The Touch Wheel interface offers a quick and ergonomic way to modify pipetting parameters. It enables you to browse through menus, change pipetting volumes and speeds or other settings.

    Instead of repeatedly pressing buttons or twisting fingers to modify volumes, you simply slide your finger over the Touch Wheel. Changing a dispense volume has never been so fast and easy!

    Easy to read display

    All INTEGRA pipettes feature full text menus, displaying pipetting protocols without abbreviations. This makes INTEGRA pipettes particularly easy to understand and intuitive to use.

    The entire menu structure is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

    VIALINK Software

    Convenient pipette and program management

    INTEGRA electronic pipettes can be connected to VIALINK, a pipette management software. With VIALINK even complex custom programs can be quickly created and stored in a library on the computer, ensuring a backup is always available. Then, copy the programs onto your pipette to start your assay. 

    To connect a pipette to the PC and VIALINK, a charging / communication stand (4211) or a linear stand with charging /communication station (3215 and 3218) is required.

    Time Savings

    Save hours of pipetting by using a VOYAGER II pipette!

    Instead of going back and forth with a single channel pipette between different  labware, the VOYAGER II allows you to transfer multiple samples at once. This increases pipetting productivity significantly, while also reducing pipetting errors, as the number of transfers is minimized.

    Transferring samples from 1.5 ml microcentrifuge tubes to a 96 well plate using a VOYAGER II multichannel pipette is 8 times faster compared to a single channel pipette.

    Tip Spacing and Labware Compatibility

    Normal multichannel pipettes have a fixed tip to tip spacing of 9 mm, which corresponds to the well to well spacing of a standard 96 well plate. However samples are usually stored, processed and analyzed in various labware formats, which makes it impossible to use normal multichannel pipettes for the entire workflow.

    VOYAGER II pipettes provide access to a wide range of labware formats, as their tip spacing can expand anywhere from 4.5 mm to 33 mm (depending on the model).

    The table below shows the possible minimum and maximum tip spacing for each VOYAGER II model and gives an indication which type of labware it can accomodate.

    For example: an 8 channel 125 µl VOYAGER II pipette offers a tip spacing from 4.5 mm up to 14 mm. Typical tasks are plate reformatting between 96 well and 384 well plates or transfer samples between racked microcentrifuge tubes and plates (48/96/384 wells)
    .

    Typical Applications

    Gel loading
    Easily aspirate 8 or 12 samples from a 96 well PCR plate
    (9 mm spacing) and dispense to 4.5 mm spacing
    gel lanes.

    Plate reformatting
    Transferring samples between 96 and 384 well plates can be tedious and prone to transfer errors. VOYAGER II pipettes allow you to transfer 8 or 12 samples easily between 96 and 384 well plates (9 mm <-> 4.5 mm spacing).

     

    Transfer from tubes to plates
    Sample transfers from 1.5 ml microcentrifuge tube
    racks (~14 mm spacing) to microplates is a routine
    task for a VOYAGER II pipette and saves many transfer steps.

    Cell seeding
    The 4 and 6 channel VOYAGER II pipettes accommodate even the large well to well spacing of 12 and 24 well plates (26 mm and 19 mm). This allows you to transfer cells at a fraction of the time it would take with a single channel pipette.
