Specifications of 96/384 channel pipettes – expectation vs. reality

If you’re in the market for a 96 or 384 channel pipetting system, then you might start by looking at the specifications of various options on the market. But when evaluating the stated accuracy or precision of products, do you really know how to compare different instruments?

There are various ways to calibrate 24, 96 or 384 channel instruments, but many manufacturers rely on gravimetric-only measurements to provide an average result. The problem with this approach is that it can conceal outliers.
