An efficient, large volume magnetic bead purification workflow
MAGFLO PCR magnetic beads for PCR purification offer an effective solution for the purification of amplicons during PCR reaction clean-up. Their simple, three-step protocol efficiently removes unincorporated dNTPs, excess primers, primer dimers, salts and enzymes to produce a clean DNA product. Purified nucleic acids are eluted with a low salt elution buffer or molecular biology grade water, and can be used directly in downstream applications.
MAGFLO PCR beads perfectly complement our MAG module, which uses vertically moving magnetic arrays to simplify bead collection, resulting in superior yields and improved reproducibility. The magnetic array of the MAG module can be quickly and easily exchanged to accommodate various labware types and, for large volume PCR purification, we recommend the new deep well plate adapter and magnetic array. This set-up is specifically designed to fit our deep well plates, which feature 96 square wells with V-shaped bottoms to maximize processing volumes and minimize dead volumes. This allows efficient bead collection from 96 samples in volumes of up to 2.2 ml, enhancing the scalability of magnetic bead workflows in terms of both throughput and volume.

Our MAG modules, deep well plates and magnetic beads can be used to enhance manual large volume PCR purification workflows, but pairing these solutions with advanced liquid handling equipment can further improve cost effectiveness and reliability. For example, our VIAFLO 96 or VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipettes can be equipped with a 96 channel, 1250 µl pipetting head to eliminate manual pipetting steps. This set-up enables simultaneous processing of up to 96 samples under identical conditions, increasing throughput and minimizing both hands-on time and the risk of errors to ensure excellent consistency and productivity for precise nucleic acid clean-up. Alternatively, the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot can be used for highly flexible automation of varying sample throughputs.
