Lightweight Electronic Pipettes

Product story

The perfect pipetting system

Do your pipette tips ever loosen, leak or fall off? This is a common issue in laboratories, caused by the use of universal pipette tips. Such tips require “hammering on” which stretches the shape of the pipette tip rim. The stretched pipette tip rim immediately starts moving back to its original shape and away from the tip cone. This can cause leaking, misaligned tips and even pipette tips that completely fall off the pipette!

That is why INTEGRA designed the pipettes and GRIPTIPS® in combination, resulting in a perfectly matched pipetting system. GRIPTIPS® snap into place with minimal tip loading effort, providing a secure connection. GRIPTIPS® never fall off and are always perfectly aligned, resulting in superior accuracy and precision results.

How it Works

How it works

Solving many issues of traditional manual pipetting, VIAFLO electronic pipettes excel in terms of ergonomics, ease of use and productivity:

  • GRIPTIP® system

GripTip pipette tips snap into place with minimal tip loading effort resulting in superior accuracy and precision results.

GRIPTIPS® are always securely attached and perfectly aligned, regardless of how many side well touch offs are performed. You no longer have to hammer your pipette tips on or worry about pipette tips falling off!

    1) LOBES
    2) O-RING SEAL
    3) RIM SNAPS OVER THE LOBES
    4) SHOULDER

The rim (3) of the GRIPTIPS® will snap over the Multi-Lobes (1), attaching firmly. As a result, GRIPTIPS® will never accidently fall off.

A shoulder (4) provides a positive stop to prevent over-tightening of the tip. It can only be attached up to that point and no further, ensuring that all tips are at the same height. That means that the tip is either on or off, but nothing in between.

  • Convenient operation and navigation

Adjusting the volume of the VOYAGER electronic pipette is easy and intuitive with the use of the touch wheel.

The Touch Wheel is a quick and ergonomic way to modify pipetting parameters. Instead of repeatedly pushing buttons or twisting fingers to modify volumes, you simply slide your finger over the wheel.

The full color screen provides full text menus (in multiple languages) and displays pipetting protocols without abbreviations, making VIAFLO pipettes particularly easy to understand and intuitive to use.

  • Various pipetting modes

Color screen display of VIALFO electronic pipette with customizable pipetting program visible.

VIAFLO pipettes feature 10 preset PIPETTING PROGRAMS, for which only a few parameters such as volume and speed need to be defined.

For more elaborate pipetting protocols, up to 40 user defined custom programs can be created. The custom program is a step-based setup queuing liquid handling steps such as aspirate, dispense, mix and more.

If connected to the VIALINK PIPETTE MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE, also complex custom programs can be quickly created and stored in a library on the computer.

  • Possibilty to automate

    ASSIST PLUS Pipetting Robot

Simply mount an INTEGRA VIAFLO electronic pipette onto the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot, choose a pipetting protocol, add a tip rack and your labware. Press RUN and ASSIST PLUS will automatically carry out the full workflow.

Applications

Pipet Mode
Pipet Mode

Allows liquid transfers when aspirate and dispense volumes are equal

Similar to how manual pipettes work, just with all the benefits of electronic pipettes. Watch the video to see how easy it is to use INTEGRA’s electronic pipettes for everyday use.

Repeat Dispense
Repeat Dispense

Dispensing multiple aliquots of the same volume

The repeat dispense mode allows dispensing multiple aliquots of the same volume without refilling the tips after each dispense for fast microplate filling and processing.

To increase the accuracy and precision of the dispenses, a pre- and a post-dispense can be defined, which are discarded back to the source or waste.

Sample Dilute
Sample Dilute

Aspiration of two different liquids separated by an air gap

This mode enables the aspiration of two different liquids separated by an air gap followed by a dispense of the entire tip content.

Typically, this mode is used to dilute a concentrated sample by which the diluent is aspirated first, followed by the air gap and then the sample. This way the diluent chases the concentrated sample during the dispense, ensuring no residual sample remains in the tips.

Pipet/Mix
Pipet/Mix

Transfers a defined volume and follows with a defined number of automatic mixing cycles

Mixing different liquids together in the tip in a homogenous and reproducible way.

Manual Pipet
Manual Pipet

Full control over the pipetting cycle

The manual pipet mode gives a user full control over the pipetting cycle. Only as long as the RUN button is pressed, the pipette aspirates or dispenses. The speed and a maximal volume can be set.

This mode can be used to:

  • Measure the volume in a tube or plate
  • Perform titrations
  • Carefully aspirate supernatant without disturbing the pellet
Reverse Pipet
Reverse Pipet

Leaving a last dispense that is discarded

Using this mode a larger volume is aspirated than the actual dispense, leaving a last dispense that is discarded. The function of this mode is equal to the reverse pipetting technique conducted with manual pipettes.

The reverse pipetting technique is used to pipette viscous and volatile liquids and can also improve pipetting results at very low volumes.

Variable Dispense
Variable Dispense

Dispense multiple differing volumes

Aspirate once and dispense multiple differing volumes. Variable Dispense mode eliminates the need to adjust volumes between each dispense.

Multi aspiration mode
Multi aspiration mode

Allows aspirating multiple aliquots of different volumes.

This mode can be used for a variety of collection applications where the aspiration volume is well known. This mode is also suited for supernatant collection in microplates.

Electronic pipettes are typically used to pipette into microtiter plates, but with the Multi Aspirate mode (sometimes referred to as Pooling), a known amount of liquid can aspirated back into the pipette tip from a plate.

This mode is especially useful when used in multichannel form for multiple samples at the same time, and when supernatant collection is necessary and the amount of liquid to be aspirated is a known volume.

Sample Dilute/Mix
Sample Dilute/Mix

Allows aspirating two liquids separated by an air-gap followed by a complete dispense and Mix steps.

Use this mode to perform sample dilutions where mixing of sample and diluent is required. This mode could also be used to introduce and mix diluent and sample to the first column of a serial dilution plate.

Serial dilution mode
Serial dilution mode

Allows aspirating a transfer volume followed by a mix. Rows and Mix Cycles are tracked on the display.

Use this mode to perform serial dilutions. The Serial Dilution mode enables aspiration of a specific volume followed by a mix sequence and ending with the original aspiration volume in the tips.

Custom Programs
Custom Programs

Custom programs provide full flexibility to write and run your own protocols.

Each INTEGRA electronic micropipette allows you to create and store of up to 40 multi-step pipetting protocols, ensuring the same process is followed by every user for consistent performance and increasing reproducibility between different operators.

Steps which can be added include aspirate, dispense, mixing, timers, text prompts, and beeps.
