INTEGRA joins the Science Based Targets initiative
We have submitted company-wide emission reduction targets to limit global warming.
From the Paris agreement to science-based targets
The Paris Agreement legally binds over 191 countries to pursue efforts to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 °C,1 and we are already dangerously close to that threshold. It is particularly important that companies do their part to reduce their emissions rapidly and deeply, as industry is the largest emitting sector, and is responsible for more than 40 % of global emissions.2
The myclimate foundation has supported INTEGRA since 2020 in continuously monitoring the impact of our global operations according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. These reports can be downloaded below.

Based on these reports, we have outlined a detailed action plan that also includes our supply chain. We have also taken the first steps towards developing a net zero strategy by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and submitting company-wide emissions reduction targets. INTEGRA Biosciences Holding AG (including all production sites and sales offices) commits to:
- Scopes 1-2: Reduce absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46 % by 2031, from a 2021 base year. This includes direct emissions from company cars, the combustion of natural gas in heating systems, and indirect emissions from purchased electricity.
- Electricity: Increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 48 % in 2021 to 100 % by 2030, where nuclear electricity is not considered renewable.
- Scope 3: Reduce GHG emissions by 51.6 % per revenue by 2029, from a 2019 base year. This includes indirect emissions along the value chain.
- Achieve net zero by 2050 at the latest, i.e., all emissions not avoided must be removed by carbon capture.

Helping the planet starts at home
Swiss headquarters is run entirely on renewable energies
We are proud that our Swiss headquarters is run entirely on renewable energy. Our building has the best insulation values, is heated via a fossil-free heat pump system, and the roof is fitted with solar panels. Together with local hydropower, this means we exclusively use renewable energy for the assembly of all our devices.
Our consumables are produced exclusively with renewable energy
The roofs of our buildings at our US headquarters are equipped with particularly efficient bifacial solar panels that produce 650,000 kWh of solar energy a year. Together with purchased green electricity, the energy used to manufacture our consumables has come exclusively from renewable sources since 2023.
Further reducing our carbon footprint
Alongside the big measures, many small steps also contribute to minimizing our carbon footprint. We support our employees with flexible working hours, home office facilities where possible, charging stations for e-cars and other programs designed to have a positive impact on the environment.3
