INTEGRA relies on renewable energy

We exclusively use renewable energy for assembly of all our devices

Helping the planet starts at home

Swiss headquarters is run entirely on renewable energies

We are proud that our Swiss headquarters is run entirely on renewable energies. The building is heated via a fossil-free heat pump system, and the roof is fitted with solar panels. Together with local hydropower, this means we exclusively use renewable energy for assembly of all our devices.

Half of the energy used to produce our consumables comes from renewable sources

Our US headquarters is now also equipped with a solar energy system, meaning that our buildings are currently producing 910,000 kWh of solar energy a year, and more than half of the energy used to produce our consumables comes from renewable sources.

Reducing and reporting our carbon footprint

Our commitment to minimizing our carbon footprint doesn’t stop there. We support our employees with flexible working hours, home office facilities where possible, free charging stations for e-cars and other programs designed to have a positive impact on the environment 1. As an additional step we were supported by the foundation myclimate in 2021 to continuously assess and monitor the impact of our global operations according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. This helps us to find hotspots and reduce our carbon footprint. Reports can be downloaded here (2019, 2020).

From the Paris agreement to science-based targets

The Paris agreement legally binds over 191 countries to limit the global temperature increase to 2° C and pursing efforts to limit the increase to 1.5° C 2. Industry is the largest emitting sector, with over 40 % of global emissions in 2019 3. It is therefore particularly important that companies contribute to achieve the Paris reduction target. INTEGRA Biosciences commits to archive net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest and supports the global targets of the Paris climate agreement to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C. In 2022, we set the following science-based targets for our global operations:

  • Scope 1: 4.2 % absolute reduction per year (includes all direct emissions from company cars or the combustion of natural gas in heating systems).
  • Scope 2: use 80 % renewable electricity by 2025 and 100 % by 2030 (includes all indirect emissions from purchased electricity).
  • Scope 3: reduce emissions per revenue by 7%/CHF, i.e., 52%/CHF by 2030 (includes all other indirect emissions in the value chain, e.g. from the products, shipping or business travels).
