We seek a full-time a) Senior R&D Engineer, b) Principal R&D Engineer, and c) R&D Engineer II to join our product development team in Hudson, NH, to assume a significant role in the mechanical/industrial design and development of new products from concept to launch, focusing on handheld devices and consumables.
Responsibilities
- Explore multiple conceptual ideas to meet initial product specifications through sketches, CAD modeling, and rapid prototyping
- Perform research on product technologies to implement into design concepts
- Produce detailed and verified product designs using CAD models, prototypes, and testing analysis
- Conduct pilot builds and product testing to validate product designs
- Assist/lead activities required for transfer into production manufacturing
- Support production manufacturing through the initial launch and early product life
- Initiate other process requirements such as first article inspections, work instruction, production fixture requirements, incoming/in-process inspection requirements, and manufacturing training
- Lead the communication of development progress to cross-functional teams and senior leadership through design reviews, presentations, and timing updates
- Demonstrate leadership skills within the engineering team
- Proactively interface with other departments involved in the product development process
- Effectively work with outside development vendors as necessary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, plastics engineering, or similar field
- 10+ years in a product development environment
- Proven history of leading successful component or system design projects
- Experience designing and developing with injection molded parts
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks
- Demonstrated experience with verification and validation testing
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Advanced computer skills including MS Office applications
