A better way to extract genomic DNA
Spin column workflows require centrifugation between steps, multiple tube transfers, and can be difficult to automate. The Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit uses magnetic beads instead of columns to isolate high purity genomic DNA (gDNA) from blood, buffy coat, tissue and cultured cells – without centrifugation. The kit is compatible with manual workflows and INTEGRA automation for hands-free processing.
How it works
The Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit follows a 4 step workflow from sample to purified gDNA.
- Lysis: The sample is treated with a lysis buffer to break open cells, release nucleic acids and denature proteins and other impurities. Heating optimizes sample lysis.
- Binding: Magnetic beads are added to the lysate, where gDNA selectively binds to the bead surface in the presence of a binding buffer.
- Washing: Several wash steps remove proteins, salts and other contaminants, ensuring high gDNA purity.
- Elution: The purified gDNA is released from the magnetic beads into an elution buffer, ready for downstream use. Heating enhances sample elution.
The Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit delivers high genomic DNA yields from blood with consistent purity, as indicated by A260/280 and A260/230 ratios. The resulting gDNA is suitable for downstream applications such as (q)PCR and NGS. Read the full application note.
Use Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit with:
- Blood (citrate, EDTA)
- Buffy coat
- Tissue samples (up to 10 mg)
- Cultured cells (up to 25 µg gDNA from 5×106 cells)
This versatility makes the Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit well suited to genomic studies, clinical research and other applications where high quality DNA is essential.
In head-to-head testing with whole blood, the Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit produced higher purity genomic DNA than a leading spin column method, with comparable DNA yields and significantly reduced hands-on time (~5 minutes automated vs. 40–50 minutes manual).
The Clean Blood & Tissue DNA Kit works with INTEGRA's HEATMAG module, a magnetic stand that captures magnetic beads during binding and washing steps in bead-based workflows.
The HEATMAG also offers integrated heating – up to 65 °C – to enhance lysis and elution, helping to improve DNA yields. It is compatible with standard microcentrifuge tubes and 96 well PCR plates.
