Clean-up of reaction mixes after PCR protocols is essential to remove unincorporated primers or dNTPs, so that they do not disrupt subsequent reactions. The MAG module’s adapter for 96 or 384 well PCR plates enables hands-free PCR clean-ups for up to 384 simultaneous reactions per run.

Magnetic beads efficiently isolate DNA fragments based on their size, which is crucial for both single- and double-size selection in NGS library preparation. Magnetic bead purifications with the MAG modules, combined with the precision of INTEGRA's pipetting platforms, provide high yields with minimal bead loss.

Magnetic beads simplify nucleic acid extraction, isolating DNA and RNA effectively

Isolation of nucleic acids requires selective binding of DNA or RNA from complex biological samples. Magnetic beads offer scalability in in nucleic acid extraction for both volumes and sample numbers. The bead collection height can be changed between the steps, allowing collection at optimal heights during binding/washing (volumes >500 µl) or elution steps (volumes <200 µl). In some extraction protocols, processing steps like lysis and elution require elevated temperatures; the combination of the HEATMAG module’s heating element with the adapter for 1.5 ml tubes is ideal for nucleic acid extractions.

Concentration of specific proteins in a biological sample using magnetic beads.

The surface of the magnetic beads can also be functionalized with specific ligands – e.g. antibodies for immunoprecipitations – for use in protein analysis. These ligands are chosen to have a high affinity for the target proteins of interest. Repetitive manual pipetting steps can be minimized by combining MAG modules with INTEGRA's pipetting platforms, providing more hands-free time.
