Enabling high volume magnetic bead workflows with new deep well plate adapter for the MAG module
Magnetic bead workflows have become the method of choice for many researchers as they show better scalability in throughput and volume than column-based approaches. Manually performing magnetic bead protocols is time consuming, involves many repetitive pipetting steps and requires skilled operators. However, a huge advantage of magnetic bead applications is their potential for automation using liquid handling devices, which simultaneously increases throughput and consistency.
Achieve efficient magnetic bead workflows with our pipetting solutions
Our ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot supports fully automated magnetic bead workflows when combined with the recently launched MAG and HEATMAG modules. These modules use a moving magnetic array to bind or release beads without shifting the plate, offering compact automation. They're also compatible with VIAFLO 96 and VIAFLO 384 handheld electronic pipettes and MINI 96 portable electronic pipettes for higher throughput workflows. The magnetic array of the MAG module can easily and quickly be exchanged to accommodate various labware types according to your needs. In addition to the existing adapters for 1.5 ml tubes, 96 and 384 well PCR adapters, we have now launched an adapter compatible with our 2.2 ml deep well plate.
New deep well plate adapter for processing higher bead volumes
To allow labs to benefit from the scalability of magnetic bead workflows in throughput as well as volume, we have developed a new deep well plate adapter and magnetic array for the MAG module, specifically designed to fit our 2.2 ml deep well plates. The plates feature 96 square wells with a distinctive V-shaped bottom maximizing processing volumes while simultaneously minimizing dead volume. They enable effective bead collection from 96 samples in tandem, in volumes up to 2.2 ml. Our high quality, sterile plates are crafted from pure, virgin polypropylene in a DNase- and RNase-free environment to maintain reagent and sample integrity. Raised well rims aid secure and reliable plate sealing, as well as providing stable stacking, ensuring convenient plate handling and storage for extra time and space savings.
The perfect fit of MAG modules and deep well plates enables higher volumes of beads from 1 to 96 samples to be processed. Moreover, in combination with ASSIST PLUS, magnetic bead workflows in deep well plates can be fully automated. Our 96 channel handheld pipettes VIAFLO 96, VIAFLO 384 or MINI 96 also enable reliable and cost-effective high throughput workflows with less hands-on time, allowing scientists to boost lab productivity while also minimizing human error for more consistent results.
Added flexibility in heating, cooling and shaking
We have also created the ideal deep well plate adapter to enable the seamless use of our deep well plates on the heating, cooling and shaking modules. The COLDPLATE module provides precise and uniform temperature control across a large temperature range of 0-99 °C, while BIOSHAKE 3000-T performs both quiet and efficient orbital shaking and heating functions from room temperature all the way up to 99 °C. This winning combination of compatible and standardized deep well adapters and plates introduces the ability to automate heating, cooling and shaking steps for up to 96 samples and volumes of 2.2 ml in a large variety of workflows.
